Oldham became a Fairtrade Borough in December 2007 the certificate to prove it sits proudly on the wall in the Mayors office.
Oldham Council supports Fairtrade and uses Fairtrade products in all its meetings. The vending machines in the Civic Centre are all Fairtrade and we have a Cabinet member that supports the Action Group.
The Action Group works to ensure that Fairtrade in Oldham keeps growing and if would like to offer your support or would like any information please contact info@fairtradeinoldham.org.uk
Hello,
One of my hobbies is writing magazine articles.
Over the past ten years I have written half-a-dozen about Fairtrade. You can read my last one, from August 2010, by entering First among equals Lancashire magazine on the Internet.
I am hoping to have another published in one of our North West magazines in about 12 months time, publicising Faitrade Fortnight, 2013 – although I have not mentioned this to any editor as yet!
As you can imagine, it is difficult to find something new to write about and my thoughts are currently concentrating on a piece reporting on Fairtrade Fortnight events held across our area this year. That is why I am writing to you. If you hold an event, large or small, do you think you would be able to send me a digital image?
The image would have to be 300 dpi and at least 2Mb, preferably 3Mb. Unfortunately, since there will probably be quite a few images, there will be little or no payment, but I will make sure the photographer is named.
At the moment, if you can oblige, just let me know and we will take it from there if, hopefully, things progress.
With all best wishes, Bevan Ridehalgh.
